Forest School

Sheepscombe School is nestled into a quiet and picturesque valley where the landscape is very much present in the lives of our staff and pupils.

Our Forest School provision takes advantage of this and the beautiful beech woodland that surrounds us.

All of our EYFS/KS1 and KS2 children alternate Thursdays attending Forest School, either in the orchard which adjoins our grounds (for our youngest Littlelambs), or at the National Trust Ebworth Estate for our older children. We also make seasonal use of a lower site which sits above the Laurie Lee Cricket Ground.

After our hike through the hills to reach Ebworth our school has the use of our private, on-site garden as well as a substantial and wooded, enclosed area.

Summer and Christmas events see the whole school community come together through a love of outdoor learning.

Led by Mr Gardner our Forest School encourages practical learning in an outdoor environment throughout the seasons.

All children have the opportunity to engage and succeed as well as stimulate their creativity and pursue some of their own interests.

Our activities and learning have strong curriculum links to science, art, PSHE, DT and English as well as others. It is a happy time and space to share together and grow in our natural world.
