Welcome to the Friends of Sheepscombe School
We are delighted to welcome you to our wonderful and very special school. All parents automatically become “Friends” of Sheepscombe School when their children join the school, as well as staff, grandparents and members of our community who wish to support the school.
We work together for the benefit of our school, organising a variety of events throughout the year to fundraise much needed extra funds as well as events that compliment and support the busy life of the school and our families.
Currently there are four volunteer coordinators of the Friends of Sheepscombe School.
Sam McGarrick | Treasurer
Steph McGarrick | Secretary & Coordinator
Lucy Moakes | Coordinator
Hannah Theron | Coordinator
Who are the Friends of Sheepscombe School?
The Friends of Sheepscombe School is a registered Charity (no. 1213470) and runs independently to the school itself and in support of advancing the education of its pupils. It comprises parents, guardians, grandparents and anyone else affiliated with the school that wishes to be involved.
The Friends depend on a continual cycle of community involvement. As children reach their final year and leave, so do their families.
The Purpose of the Friends of Sheepscombe School Charity
To fundraise in order to advance the education of pupils attending Sheepscombe School. These much needed extra funds mean our children can engage in enriching extra-curricular experiences and benefit from enhanced resources and facilities.
The Friends need the support of the school community. This can be done in many ways; from joining event teams to sourcing donations and sponsorships, by giving a regular donation to coming along and sharing your thoughts in Open Meetings - there are so many great ways to get involved.
The Key Values of the Friends of Sheepscombe School
Our children: advancing their education drives our decisions.
Inclusivity: every Friend forms an integral part of the school community. We include and empower all.
Professionalism: quality, care and pride underpin the work we do.
Fun: we aspire to bring fun and joy to all involved with the Friends.
Calendar of Events
Every year, the coordinators work with the Friends community to build a calendar of fundraising events. This calendar will be added to as and when events come up over the year and a new version of the calendar will be posted in the Friends’ WhatsApp community each time it’s updated.
Fundraising Targets and Reporting
The coordinators communicate a fundraising target for the next academic year each September, after speaking with the school and finalising our calendar of events.
An annual report and summary set of accounts is shared with the Friends of Sheepscombe School shortly after the end of the charity financial year, which aligns with the school academic year. This gives the Friends of Sheepscombe School the opportunity to see what funds have been raised and how they have been spent.
