Little Lambs is a small, nurturing nursery based at Sheepscombe Primary School, welcoming families from Sheepscombe, Painswick, Stroud and the surrounding Gloucestershire areas. With just eight places, we offer a calm, caring environment where young children can feel safe, supported and free to explore at their own pace.

A calm, child-centred beginning
We understand that the early years are a time of enormous growth and sensitivity. At Little Lambs, children are met with warmth, attentiveness and respect. Our focus is on helping each child feel secure and confident, forming trusting relationships that allow curiosity and independence to develop naturally. 
Learning is led by children’s interests and needs, rather than formal expectations, giving them time and space to settle, play and grow.

Learning through play, indoors and outdoors
Children learn best through play and exploration. At Little Lambs, this means a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences each day, with opportunities for imaginative play, creativity, movement and quiet reflection.

We value hands-on learning, simple routines and meaningful interactions, helping children to build friendships, resilience and a positive relationship with learning from the very start.

A small nursery rooted in the local community
Being part of Sheepscombe Primary School allows Little Lambs to feel connected to a wider school community while maintaining the intimacy of a very small setting. Our size enables us to know each child well and to work closely with families, also offering the benefit of connecting children with all year groups and ages, much like a big family.

Key Information for Parents
•    Places: 8 children
•    Ages: From the term after your child’s 3rd birthday
•    Opening: Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year
•    Funding: Government-funded nursery hours accepted 
•    Additional hours: £6.00 per hour
•    Lunch: Optional school lunch prepared on site by the school cook (£3.00 per meal)
