Merlin Class
Merlin class caters for children from Reception to Year 2. The class is also joined by our Little Lambs nursery children. There are two spacious and well resourced classrooms, a conservatory area and access to a large astro turfed decking area and play area for outdoor learning. Every week we have PE with Atlas Sports and develop our sporting skills. Also we have staff from the Music Hub and Gloucestershire Music visit and we learn a range of instruments including Ipads for Garage Band. We use Ebworth for Forest school sessions on alternate Thursdays.
The Class Teachers are Mrs Hannah Curzon, Miss Dicker teaching Year 1 & 2 and Mrs Gail George (SENCO) and Miss Emily Fay teaching Reception and Nursery. The Teachers are very well supported by experienced Teaching Assistants Mrs Tracey Lane and 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Mrs Mary King.
January 2024 - Artist - Darell Wakelam
In Merlin class in Year 1/2, children have been studying the artist Darell, and particularly his mixed media artwork. They were inspired by his artwork of a ship created by cardboard, masking tape and paint. Children practiced their painting by changing the shades and tones of blue, they also worked on their sketch work by sketching ship designs. Children created this mixed media piece by layering cardboard to make their artwork look 3D and then painting over in their different shades and tones of blue.
November 2023 - Firework Paintings
After learning about the history of bonfire night the children were inspired by Georges Seurat to create pointillism style firework pictures with contrasting houses.
